Because we're a competitive bunch, I thought it would make sense to publish the event rules in advance. This blog entry covers the rules for the Relay portion of the Event. Look for rules for the other two elements and scoring sometime tomorrow.
Relay Rules
1. Before the relay, you will receive a group of labeled envelopes — each containing a different activity sequence.
2. Teams can complete them in any order they'd like. Not sure, but there may be a winning strategy here
3. Most of the activities for the relay involve the entire team tag-teaming to complete a sequence. Here's a simple example, far too easy for our Olympics: Person one finds a pen, person two takes the top off of the pen, person three writes their name on a piece of paper. After each task, the participant completing the task will pass the card to the next team member. When the entire sequence is complete, a new envelope / sequence will be opened. NOTE: Envelopes cannot be opened in advance.
4. When you're not participating in a given task, you will stay with your team in a predetermined place in the Conference / Ideation area. You cannot leave your area to help a teammate
5. If the person participating in the task needs help, they can return to their team's area and ask their team questions then return to complete their task
6. If for some reason the participant cannot complete their task (after at least 2 minutes of trying), they can pass the task to a teammate who can do it for them. There will be a 2-Minute Penalty for each time a team member passes on a task
If you have questions, please post them here so everyone can benefit from the answers.
